My wife, Alexandria, and I reside in Sherman Township north of Sturgis on the corner of M-66 and Banker Street Rd. in the house built by my dad and my Grandpa Eichorn in 1986. Alex and I were both born in Sturgis and raised in the area our entire lives and we are proud to be here. Many of our relatives reside in the neighborhood and surrounding locales as well. Family has been one of the most important things to us and something that we count as a major blessing. Not only has it been so for us, but it has been the bedrock of the whole nation and will continue to be into the future.
While I graduated in the top 10% of my class at Sturgis High School, Alex out-performed me. She graduated from Centreville High School as valedictorian of her class in 2006, the year I also graduated. We were each the president of the National Honor Society at our respective schools; she was the class president and I the class vice-president. God really knew what he was doing when he brought us together. After all, he knows best.
I graduated from Western Michigan University on May 1, 2010, with a BA in Political Science Secondary Education and taught mathematics for four years before being sent to the Michigan Legislature in January 2015. I earned my Master of Education in School Administration from Bethel College in 2014 during my first primary campaign.
Alex and I welcomed our first child, a daughter, into the family on May 22, 2016. Jael (pronounced jay-ELL) has been nothing but a blessing so far and we love doing things as a family. Alex is pregnant with our second child, due to arrive in January. We enjoy going on walks down our country road, reading, playing, and experiencing all of what Michigan has to offer.
Serving as state representative has been no different. We do the job as a family. On days when I’m in Lansing, I come home each evening to spend time with Alex and Jael even if it means getting home late just to see them for a bit. The work schedule is a balance, too. I set aside intentional time for my family just as I set aside time for you, my constituents.
